Mission
The mission of the Fondation Toms Pauli is to present, preserve and document two collections, both belonging to the State of Vaud, one of ancient tapestries and the other of modern textile creations.
As a non-profit organisation, the Fondation Toms Pauli has the mission to make its collections known to the public at large, as well as to specialists. To this end, it organises exhibitions, publishes catalogues and makes available to researchers the scientific archives it inherited from the CITAM. The Fondation Toms Pauli is a member of an international research network working on the documentation of a history of tapestry and the protection of this heritage.
The Fondation Toms Pauli enhances its patrimony through the acquisition of works that tie in with its two existing textile collections. For the Toms Collection, it selects ancient tapestries that can complete series already listed in its inventory, and for the modern collection it acquires major works by artists who took part in the Lausanne Tapestry Biennials.
